Active Format Description (AFD) & Bar Data Recommended Practice (CTA-CEB16-B R-2022)
This document makes recommendations on how the size of a video image can be communicated to a display device in order for the display device to optimize the viewer's experience. Though it addresses other formats, the main use case that led to its development was how best to display legacy 4:3 aspect ratio content on 16:9 aspect ratio displays as digital TV was deployed.
