Methods of Measurement for Power Transfer Efficiency and Standby Power of Wireless Power Systems (CTA-2042.3 R-2023)
Wireless charging systems let you charge a device by setting it on another device, without the need for connecting cables or contacts. You just set your device on the charging surface in virtually any orientation and it charges. In many cases the charging surface, itself, is connected to a power source by a cable – though this isn’t always the case. The charging surface could be another battery powered device. Both the charging surface and the device being charged must have wireless charging circuitry in them for the charging to work. CTA-2042.3 R-2023 describes a way determine the power being used by the device being charged, and the power being used by the device doing the charging. Dividing the former by the latter gives a measure of system efficiency.
